Supporting the Healthy Development of Children
Mentoring programs help kids reach their full potential by heightening self-esteem and enabling them to make healthy decisions. Your participation in The 2020 Scotiabank Bowl for Big Brothers Classic helps match children with positive adult role models who act as mentors in their lives.
When children are emotionally, socially, and physically healthy, everyone in the community benefits.
This event enables Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver to provide one-to-one, group, and in-school mentoring programs for over 1,200 children each year free of charge. The presence of an additional caring adult in a child’s life can curb issues like bullying, crime, and even break the cycle of poverty for local families. By signing up a team, bowling or donating to the campaign, you’re joining us in building stronger communities, one child at a time.
Where the Money Goes…
Funds raised support direct services to children and families, volunteer recruitment and family outreach, and staff and volunteer training/development. Funding enables our organization to serve more children year over year and continue to build a team of professional staff focused on the safety and quality of the Big and Little matches.
A study found that every dollar invested generates $18 in hard dollar returns to society. Former Little Brothers and Little Sisters tend to achieve more positive life outcomes than their counterparts who have never had the benefit of a Big Brother or Big Sister. Click here to read more.
